Nine cities across the Benelux
Supply, rates and habits differ by city, from Amsterdam to Luxembourg City.
Why the city matters
Three things change from place to place. Supply: Amsterdam and Antwerp have the most companions registered, Groningen and Luxembourg the fewest. Travel costs: added on top of the rate and rising with distance. And habits: in some cities a hotel is the default, in others a home visit is more common.
Rates themselves vary less than people expect. Across the Netherlands and Flanders the amounts sit close together. Brussels and Luxembourg are the exceptions.
- Amsterdamthe Netherlands. The widest choice in the Benelux and a lot of hotel bookings.
- Rotterdamthe Netherlands. A business crowd, short bookings and hotels along the river.
- The Haguethe Netherlands. An international crowd, with discretion weighing heavier than elsewhere.
- Utrechtthe Netherlands. Central in the country, which keeps travel costs down.
- Eindhoventhe Netherlands. A technology city with international staff and a smaller supply.
- AntwerpBelgium. The centre of gravity for the Flemish supply.
- BrusselsBelgium. Bilingual, heavy business traffic, higher rates.
- GhentBelgium. A smaller city, informal meetings, short distances.
- LuxembourgLuxembourg. A small supply, high rates and a lot of cross border traffic.
